Yangon is Myanmar’s largest city, and the old capital before the government moved to Nay Pyi Taw. Yangon is now a city full of hustle and bustle, with many excellent markets, good religious sites to see, and some hidden gems on the culinary and drinking scene.

Golf in Myanmar is still in its infancy, with Yangon having a handful of good courses and Mandalay with one or two. That said, the infrastructure is still growing so Myanmar is definitely a destination to consider for a culture and golf holiday, as opposed to just a golf holiday. With that said, not many people have played golf in Myanmar thus it is off the beaten path and one to consider if looking for something a bit different.

Golf Courses

Dagon Golf City

Located just outside of the city, Dagon Golf City is a popular course with locals and tourists alike. There is a good amount of water on this course, so combined with the small greens a premium is placed on accuracy. This is a great option if playing on arrival or departure date due to its proximity to the airport.

Pun Hlaing Golf Club

Pun Hlaing Golf Club is a Gary Player design which has hosted various tournaments, including the Myanmar Open. This championship course is set up to be playable for all levels of golfers, with over 7,000 yards from the tips, but open and forgiving enough for the higher handicappers. The fairways are lined with water from the rivers that surround the course, but the fairways are forgiving enough for all golfers to be able to miss and still have a shot.

Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club

Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club is known as one of the more scenic golf courses in the country. Playing approximately 7,200 yards from the back tees, the layout is also challenging with tight fairways, some undulation on the greens, and beautiful scenery to distract from the shot.

Yangon City Golf Resort

This 36-hole complex sees two very different courses – Silver Course being flat and open, playing on the open plains while Myakantha is very much the opposite, with tight fairways and trees overhanging, with shot placement the key here. Both courses are very mature and are kept in good shape to ensure a great experience.

Yangon Golf Club

Designed by the British during their occupation of Myanmar, this is a local favourite which has played host to Asian PGA events in the past. Not overly demanding or difficult, the course sets up as a relaxing, enjoyable round of golf on the oldest golf course in Myanmar.

Memorable Yangon Experience by Train

Your guide will take you on a tour of Yangon, via the Yangon Circular Train. This private tour is an excellent way to experience the culture, history and local people of Yangon. In between stops, our guide will walk you through various areas of the city to visit shops, colonial day buildings, pagodas and landmarks. Bago Historical Pagoda Tour

With your private guide, head northwest to the ancient city of Bago. Before arriving, stop at the Allied War Cemetery to see the monuments for those lost in World War 2. Upon arrival in Bago, our guide will take you to various ancient and historical pagodas while giving information, history and providing golfers with the knowledge needed to make a merit offering. The pagodas, such as Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda, are beautiful and ornate so be sure to bring a camera. Lunch is included in this trip.
