Asia Golf Experiences was honoured to have Post Media’s Wes Gilbertson visit Thailand for a golf holiday in 2024. Mr. Gilbertson writes golf and ice hockey for Post Media which is Canada’s largest news company. Wes spent 10 days traveling through Thailand’s Golden Golf Triangle of Bangkok, Hua Hin and Pattaya, experiencing the golf, culture, history and food Thailand has to offer. Wes was joined by Asia Golf Experiences Managing Partner and fellow Canadian AJ Easton, who gave some insight and experience from his 20 years in Thailand.
Mr. Gilbertson’s trip started and finished in the Thai capital city of Bangkok, where he played top courses such as Thai Country Club, Alpine Golf & Sports Club Bangkok, Nikanti Golf Club and The RG Golf City. This was also coupled with a visit to Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Reclining Buddha along with an evening aboard Anantara Riverside Resort’s spectacular Manohra Dinner Cruise.
The golf in Bangkok is plentiful and with a whole host of golf courses to choose from, Mr. Gilbertson got the best-of-the-best and took in courses which all golfers should really aim for while in Thailand on their golf holiday.
After playing Nikanti Golf Club, Mr. Gilbertson’s trip led him south to the beachside town of Hua Hin. Hua Hin, as can be learned in Mr. Gilbertson’s article below, was frequented by the Thai royals and was the favourite spot of King Rama 9. While in Hua Hin. Aside from enjoying time at the local food markets and taking in some sun and sand on the beach, Mr. Gilbertson also tested his game on the greens of Pineapple Valley Golf Club.
Continuing on from Hua Hin, he headed across the Gulf of Thailand to the golf mecca that is Pattaya, Thailand. With 6 courses to choose from in Pattaya, Mr. Gilbertson was not short of choices to end his Thai golf experience with.
